Tasting Sessions and Chrono-Health Lounge Introduction Promote Chronobiology-Based Wellness Strategies

On May 19, the Biological Clock–Anti-Aging Convergence Regional Leading Research Center (BCA2-RLRC) at Korea University Sejong Campus partnered with the Coffee Science Innovation Research Center (CSI-RC) to operate a promotional boothintroducing health-functional coffee products and the Chrono-Health Lounge (CHL).

The booth was held during the campus festival and was designed to inform current students and visitors about the operational direction of the CSI-RC and CHL, as well as to promote participation in the Living Lab Place, which is being jointly operated with the BCA2-RLRC.

The CSI-RC introduced two varieties of health-functional coffee developed through its research program, conducting tasting surveys and gathering consumer feedback from participants. The center currently operates a participatory demonstration Living Lab three times a week, on Tuesdays,’ Wednesdays’, and Thursdays’ afternoons, at Science and Technology Building No. 1. The festival booth served as an expanded, experiential program designed to reach a broader audience and raise awareness of the center's activities.

The CHL segment of the booth introduced the concept of "chrono-health", a time-based wellness framework grounded in circadian biology and chronobiological principles, offering health guidelines tailored to different times of day. It also highlighted the "brief rest" space currently in operation in Science and Technology Building No. 1. The CHL project focuses on the problem of circadian rhythm disruption caused by modern lifestyles characterized by hyperarousal and irregular habits and proposes time-based health strategies aimed at restoring circadian and ultradian rhythms.

The booth was designed to make health-functional coffee and the concept of chrono-health more accessible to students and visitors alike. It also served as a platform for connecting research outcomes to everyday life and for gathering participant feedback to be incorporated into future research and Living Lab operations.

Building on the health coffee and chrono-health Living Lab Place operated in collaboration with the CSI-RC, the BCA2-RLRC plans to continue developing chronobiology- and anti-aging research–based health promotion strategies and to steadily expand research and experiential programs open to both students and the wider community.
